Can I apply for more than one stage of the trip?
Yes, you can apply for as many as you like (provided you’re available for the dates). You can only win one stage, however.
Can I use the same video to apply for multiple stages?
Yes. So long as you have titled your submission correctly to include all the Stages you are applying for (see below).
How do I correctly title my submission video for Youtube?
You can call your video anything you like but it MUST include the name of the stage you are applying for.
Eg:“Adventure on the Road, SA”
“My Big Trip, QLD”
“Wagga Wagga or Bust, NSW”
If applying for more than one stage, you must include each stage you are applying for in the title (eg “Amanda’s Odyssey, NT, TAS, VIC”). Only videos titled in this manner will be considered for the competition.
The following abbreviations are acceptable for each Stage:
Victoria – VIC
Tasmania – TAS
South Australia – SA
Western Australia - WA
Northern Territory – NT
Queensland – QLD
New South Wales – NSW
What kind of driver's licence do I need to drive Geoff?
Same rules as renting a car anywhere in Australia. You need a valid driver's licence in English that you have held for a minimum of one year. If your driver's licence is in another language, you will require an international driver's licence.
I already have a cool camera I’m comfortable with; can I use it to shoot stuff on my adventure?
Yes. We will provide the basic equipment you’ll need but if you’d prefer to use your own camera/laptop etc, no problem. We care more about the quality of content, Mr Spielberg..
What happens to all the content I create on the road?
You’ll need to upload your video to Youtube, photos to Flickr and blogs to Worldnomads.com journals. You’re welcome to post anywhere else as well, but you must use these mediums as a minimum.
Who owns the content I create?
You’ll be sharing the content with worldnomads.com, program partners, and posting to social networks. However, you remain the owner of all content produced. You’ve just got to be happy to share!
How will you be picking the teams?
We’re looking for personality, creativity, flair and a… well, surprise us. Having some level of experience with filming/editing is important, but if we have to watch and listen to you for six weeks, you’d better have an interesting story to tell!
How will the voting work for the $10,000 prize?
Voting will start on July 2, 2010, once all seven mini docos are completed. The general public will have three weeks to vote for their favourite team doco via the Van-Tastic website. The team with the most votes wins!
Can we keep Geoff?
No. You may only love him and honour him. You must be content knowing that he will keep you in his heart forever.
Is Van-Tastic really a word?
Our Creative Director seems to think so..
